The Remittance Marketplace, held in conjunction with the GFRD2015, served as a networking exercise to promote partnerships and worldwide cross-learning experiences in the field of remittances, migration and development. Involving key players in the remittance market ranging from public, private and civil society sectors, the Marketplace provided a diversified knowledge-sharing space, and an opportunity for exhibitors and participants to become aware of business-technology approaches that can best reduce transaction costs, create profitable business models, deliver additional value to users, and indicate means of maximizing the benefits of remittances by linking them to other financial services.
The Remittance Marketplace successfully showcased new products, innovative tools and technologies for remittances and banking to a high-level audience of government officials, commercial bankers, industry representatives and development workers from all over the world.
26 key organizations from the private, public, and civil society sectors participated, including representatives of migrant associations, remittance technology providers, commercial banks, microfinance institutions, credit unions, money transfer operators, international organizations, financial regulatory bodies and donor agencies, aiming at the creation of stronger alliances and sharing of best practices with other key players in the remittance market.
