Each 16 June, the global community observes the International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR).
This day, formally adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 12 JUne 2018, acknowledges the contribution of over 200 million migrant workers to the wellbeing of their 800 million family members back home, through the money they send.
On 16 June 2019, the #FamilyRemittances2030 campaign was launched, aimed at engaging public and private sectors, and the civil society, towards the common goal of reducing remittance transaction costs and provide access to financial services for migrants and their families, to reach broader financial inclusion.
