Kazakhstanis will be able to pay for goods in shops using mobile communication. The national operator Kazpost has launched a new service ‘Salem, Mobile’. The first to use opportunities of the technology were villagers of Shortandy of Akmola region. Cashless system allows villagers to pay for purchases and to make money transfers from card to card. The main tool here is the cell phone.
Bagdat MUSSIN, CHAIRMAN, KAZPOST JSC:
The reason we focused on rural area is that this product does not require the Internet on your phone. That is, people can pay with a simple phone for goods and services in the shop. There is no need to have cash with you. In addition, our entrepreneurs don’t need to set the terminal to service the card. Today, there is a requirement that each store must install the terminal. According to the developers, the technology is planned to be introduced in all stores of the country, although everything depends on the consent of the owners. To connect to the system, an entrepreneur must sign a contract with ‘Kazpost’, and a customer must get an account on a portal www.post.kz. Meanwhile, the national company is implementing in the villages other new technologies. Among them there is a sale of railway tickets, maintenance of legal entities and the so-called “supermarket of parcels”, which allows customers to send parcels on their own.
Dauren ABAYEV, KAZAKH MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION:
At the same time the pilot project is launched in 50 villages. And right after the accumulation of the database, after we see how well it works, we will distribute further. I think that within 3-4 years it can be extended all across Kazakhstan.
Token KIZAEVA, RESIDENT OF SHORTANDY VILLAGE:
You can buy here train and airline tickets. It will be very good. I use it. In addition, at home, via the website and the phone it is possible to pay for utility services. I really like that it is possible to do some shopping indoors. And without endless walking. It is very convenient.
