Remittances in Albania Declining in 2011

Remittances of Albanians living abroad were down by 8.2 percent for the first three months of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010. According to data published by Albania’s Central Bank, remittances in the three month period ending March 31 were Euro 157 million. Remittances, which have been a driving force for the Albanian economy for the last 20 years, have shown a declining trend in the last couple of years.
